CAMAMU BAY BY STAND UP PADDLE
The bay of Camamu is the third biggest bay in Brazil and the only one born
from a waterfall – Tremembé waterfall. From there we’ll start our stand up
paddle adventure, with Barra Grande – the end point of the peninsula – as our
final destination. Our trip will take us through beautiful landscapes with clean
blue water and many islands. The course is approximately of 45 km with a
camp set on the Island of the Tatu.
Departure from Ilhéus in direction of Tremembé on the Costa do Dendê road. We’ll start paddling after a swim at the Tremembé waterfall, the starting point of the Camamu bay. Coming from the rain forest, the waterfall plunges directly in salty water, making it a very special spot for a swim. We’ll paddle between mangrove and rain forest landscapes passing by the city of Maraú until we arrive at the island of the Tatu to have dinner and set camp to spend the night.
After breakfast we’ll break camp and continue paddling until we reach our final destination: Barra Grande. We’ll pass by the island of Goio, Sapinho, Porto do Campinho until we reach the pier of Barra Grande for overnight accommodation. Free time in the evening.
A new day for a new adventure! We’ll take the dirt road with a car or squad on the trails through the coconut trees and gigantic bromeliads. We’ll go up the hill of Morro do Celular from where we can enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the whole peninsula. We’ll continue until we reach the lagoon of Cassange. Separated by 90 meters of sand from the ocean, the lagoon is 1500 meter wide. Its fresh water is ideal to bathe and do sports. We’ll go on to Taipú de Fora : 7 km of clear sanded beach, gigantic coconut trees and coral reef. Free time in Taipú de Fora to rest, have a fresh drink, and savor a delicious lunch. After the excursion on the peninsula we’ll continue to our final destination.
