Black mud bath

On the riverside of Rio Pardo, the city offers romantic beauty and incredible peace. In 1700 the first inhabitants of Portuguese and Brazilians origins came from Ilhéus 1700. The city got its name from the Vieiras family – cocoa farmers and first colonizers – and the mansions of its center are well preserved. Today it’s called “Canes” – the islands of paradise. There is more than 40 km of coastline cropped by islands, mangrove, rain forest reservations and many coconut trees. We’ll take a tour through the city. Some parts of the waterfront remember of the golden age of the cocoa cycle. The old town sits around the square Praça da Bandeira, with an architectural ensemble well preserved including mansions from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20 th century. They’ve been restored recently and today they host the City Hall (1899), the public library (1900) and restaurants spreading tables on the side walk in the evening. At night the lights make it a charming place. The tour includes a black mud bath (depending on the tide), a visit to the island Garças and to the beach Atalaia with bars, coconut trees, fine sand and fresh water rivers.

Golf

Comandatuba Ocean Course is an 18 holes golf course meeting international standards for the joy of all players – from amateurs to professionals. It has been planned and built by the American architect Dan Blankenship and the course has been integrated to the natural landscape of the island. Between the ocean and the mangrove in an environment subjugated by centenary coconut trees, sand dunes, beautiful lagoons and native vegetation, it is the home of a rich fauna composed by marmosets, birds, foxes, anteaters and brown four-eyed opossums. The terrain of the course presents uneven grounds, which combined with sand banks and ocean winds makes it a challenging golf course at all times.
