Getting out of Ilhéus in the direction of Itabuna there is CEPLAC – federal organ for research and development of the cocoa crop. The excursion includes visiting its headquarter, the museum with stuffed animals, viewing institutional films, a tour of the plantation to see how the fruit is harvested and processed, how chocolate is made, and, to finish, some chocolate tasting.
